Credit Card Providers
Credit cards all provide the same function, you transfer, you spend/borrow money and you pay it back each month. Both Visa and Mastercard credit cards offer the same protection when buying online. The credit card APR (Annual Percentage Rate) will differ from card to card and this is down to the credit card provider. Credit card providers will quite often offer a balance transfer rate or a special introductory rate to attract you to apply for a credit card. The standard rate will differ between credit card companies.
All the major UK banks will offer credit card services such as Halifax, HSBC and Barclays. In recent years high street shops and supermarkets have also offered a credit card service such as Tesco and Asda. Even charities provide a credit card service like RSPCA credit card, these charity credit cards will donate money to the charity each time you spend on your card.
The list of credit card providers is vast, they all work in the same way and provide the same amount of online security. The difference is their own credit card rates, and offers. If you plan to pay the balance each month a rewards credit card or a card that provides cash back may be a good option.
